About Walk the Truth

Walk The Truth is a fashion charity campaign created by Director of NGO Africa’s Children-Africa’s Future Gita Jaffe, and Designer/Publicist Shaun Marq.

The aim is to unite the fashion community in support of orphans overseas who have been affected by HIV and AIDS. Selected designers have been chosen to create a one of a kind piece for the runway. Celebrity and top Canadian models will be showing the pieces off in high fashion style!

The gala brings together both lovers and supporters of the well known charity, and Canadian fashion’s elite. Garments created will be auctioned off with all sales and event ticket sales going to support programs for orphans overseas, as well as to programming and education on HIV and AIDS to schools worldwide. More details about the auction can be found on the auction page.

The concept of the show is based around one of AC-AF’s ongoing art projects entitledSay What You Mean, Mean What You Say… about HIV and AIDS. With this project, youth around the world are asked to write a short prose about what HIV and AIDS means to them. A portrait of each youth is taken and their prose is overlaid.

Several themes have been identified from the children’s responses and the designers have been given a choice of which theme to base the design of their garment around. The themes are:

walk for life

walk for love

walk for children

walk for death

walk for hope
